- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
Step 1: Measure the Spices
Step 2: Mix Everything Together
Use a spoon or small whisk to stir the spices thoroughly.
Break apart any brown sugar clumps as you mix.
The color should turn into a deep reddish-orange blend with little green parsley flakes throughout.
The smell at this point is honestly really good already. Smoky, savory, slightly sweet.
Step 3: Taste and Adjust
If you want more heat, add another pinch of cayenne.
For a sweeter blend, mix in a little extra brown sugar.
What worked better for me was adding extra black pepper when using the seasoning on fries.
Step 4: Store the Seasoning
Transfer the seasoning mixture into an airtight spice jar or container.
Store it in a cool dry place.
It stays fresh for about 3 months, although we usually finish it way before then.
- Use smoked paprika instead of regular for deeper flavor.
- Shake the container before each use.
- Taste the seasoning on a plain potato chip to test balance.
- Double the batch if you cook often.
- Use a funnel when pouring into spice jars.
- Label the jar with the date.
