Equipment

  • Large pitcher or glass jar
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Wine opener
  • Stirring spoon

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 bottle dry red wine 750 ml
  • 1/2 cup blackberry liqueur or blackberry syrup
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur optional

Fruit

  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries

Juice & Sweetener

  • 1/2 cup cranberry juice
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup adjust to taste

To Serve

  • Ice cubes
  • Club soda or lemon-lime soda optional

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Fruit

  • Wash all the fruit thoroughly. Slice the orange and lemon into thin rounds. Slice strawberries if they are large.
  • Place blackberries, orange slices, lemon slices, and strawberries into a large pitcher.
  • This step is important because the fruit slowly releases flavor into the wine.

Step 2: Add the Wine

  • Pour the entire bottle of red wine over the fruit.
  • Choose a dry red wine so the sangria doesn’t become overly sweet.
  • Stir gently to combine.

Step 3: Add Blackberry Flavor

  • Add blackberry liqueur or blackberry syrup into the pitcher.
  • This is what gives the sangria its signature fruity depth.
  • Stir slowly so the fruit doesn’t break too much.

Step 4: Add Juice and Sweetener

  • Pour in cranberry juice and simple syrup.
  • Stir again gently.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.

Step 5: Chill the Sangria

  • Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • For best flavor, let it chill overnight so the fruit fully infuses the wine.

Step 6: Serve

  • Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour sangria over the top.
  • Add extra fruit to each glass for presentation.
  • If desired, top with a splash of club soda for a lighter fizzy version.
